Print

In this age of “instant print” and “word-processing” at home, printed material is often produced quickly and with little or misguided thought.

I have 25 years experience of working in print and you can see some of my work here: Jules P Richards Flickr  or read some testimonials here.

It would seem that I enjoy, and I’m good at “adding sizzle to the sausage”…

The ‘content’ and ‘form’ of a communication device needs to be properly considered –  be it a flyer, leaflet, poster, advert, or any visual item.

  • What’s the key message?
  • Who’s the message aimed at?
  • What do you want the reader to do?

Your item will evoke a feeling:

  • What’s your message essentially about?
  • What are you about?
  • What are you trying to do?
  • How much do we say, what do we want to say, what do we need to say?

You might need to form a ‘corporate style’ that enables different mediums to reinforce your brand and your messages.

All this can be done with graphics, images, text, typefaces, colour and considered content.

It may seem easy – yes, making a cake is easy, but creating something that can be served to a host of guests and strangers; that will leave the desired lasting memory, that will generate a response, an acknowledgement, reciprocation… this is a tad trickier.

MIBC-DL2A print project for
Melton Indoors Bowls Club.

I was asked if I might revamp some leaflets for Melton Indoors Bowls Club.

I found that quality off-the-shelf graphic material relating to “indoor bowls” was lacking and so I took a trip along to the club and shot some new photography for the new promotional material…

Safespace Counselling – Logo and branding for printed advertising.

An example of a simple but effective branding exercise where I produced a logo, styling and printed material for a local counselling service.  The Logo was developed and is being used on advertising, leaflets, posters and personal-cards.

SYCLeafletA recent project for
Syston Youth Cafe.

Another small project that I’ve been involved with is Syston Methodist Church’s Youth Cafe.

I’ve devised an initial “Syston Youth Cafe” logo and visual identity. I’ve designed and produced some simple fundraising leaflets and complied a basic web-presence.

In the summer of 2016, I took on the voluntary role of Editor of ‘Long Furrow’, the East Goscote Community Magazine.

I’ve attempted to revitalise the look and the content of the magazine and the new issue is out in August 2016.

We currently see 1300 copies of the 24-page magazine distributed seasonally to all business and residential addresses in East Goscote.

With Phi’s new logo, visual style and new web-presence, developed by Simon GunnHuw Spanner and Andy Smith, Phi needed a key leaflet promptly artworked ready for swift print reproduction and delivery.

Phi-roll-up-bannersThey also required appropriate artwork, production and timely delivery of a set of roller banners for a scheduled event.

SwimSchoolFlyersand-BCs678Swim School Logo, Stationery and Advertising

A small project completed for a new small local swim school. I put together a logo identity for flyers, stationery and ads etc for Emma and Tammy’s Swim School – they run classes for parent & babies as well as beginner sessions. The graphics have been adopted on t-shirts and stickers etc as well as their identity on their blog here.

For seven years now I have arranged print for Jelson’s QCC.JelsonsQCCCovers

As other years, I’ve created cover designs and supplied and print for event booklets menus, table name cards. This year Jelson’s Group Safety & Training Advisor and event organiser Amy Burton said; “we are chuffed with them!”  I guess that’s why they keep coming back.
