My name’s Julian Richards.  I’m a Cornishman at heart and I’ve been living ‘up country’ for more than 25 years.

and design for print and screen.
Image making for business and pleasure.
A bit of what I do

It has been said that “Jules is indeed a talented and motivated individual”.

It would seem that I enjoy, and I’m good at “adding sizzle to the sausage”…
Creativity is most prevalent when one looks outside of the familiar routine. Yes, “drive” is what gets things done, but a mindful drive might be more fruitful. Perhaps Solomon said it first “diligence leads to riches as surely as haste leads to poverty”.

“What happens when we slow down and pay attention?
Everything! Innumerable delights are right at hand.”
Ezra Bayda

Over the last few years, I’ve unlearned a few things.
I think it’s important that we try to make time to ‘wake up’ to life, and realise our place in the world we all share.

I love to create and realise new imaginations out of our habitual routines and familiar cultures.
I love to co-create with others.
I love to interact with others.
I love to create… with you?

“The mind is its own place,
and in itself can make a heaven of hell,
a hell of heaven” John Milton

Since 2016  Jules has been facilitating the busy Reprographics Department at Fullhurst Community College. See here ‘Reprography‘. Outside of this, he continues to seek further opportunities that might benefit from his experience, skills, and commitment.

2000 – 2016  Jules’ last major role, as Graphic Artist and Design Studio & Production Manager, saw 16 years of dedication at ‘The Bookmark People’, Central Community Press Ltd. in Leicester. Alas, the company hung up their boots in 2016*. His administration and creative talents helped coordinate the creation and provision of bespoke advertising-funded public library bookmarks. These campaigns range from single-site provision to national bookmark campaigns, servicing all UK public libraries.
Jules worked as part of a three-person office HQ, liaising with a team of a dozen regionally based agents, and a large national network of Public Library authorities. Jules managed, designed, and oversaw production and distribution of Promotional Library Bookmarks throughout the UK.

*With great regret, the Bookmark People company closed in the Spring of 2016; in part because of the decline in support for public libraries and also the declining availability of corporate sponsorship.

“Where your treasure is, there is your heart also”  Gospel of Matthew – The Bible

As an apprentice, he learnt to ‘never assume’, and to ‘measure twice, cut once’.  He believes listening and hearing can achieve more than speaking…
